A long history of exceptional care with an elevated quality of life.

And we’re just getting started.

Westerwood has been a highly respected nonprofit, senior living, and health care provider for more than 43 years. A lot has happened since we were founded in 1978. Take a look back at some highlights from the four decades that have followed:

1978-1988 | Westerwood

The first gardeners and landscape designers planted trees, shrubs, and flowers.
The Residents’ Association was formed so residents could work side-by-side with the administration to meet the needs and concerns of the community.

1988-1998 | Westerwood

1988-1998

Residents published the first issue of The Village Highlights, a newsletter that has gradually grown to include original stories and memories.
The groundbreaking for Ridgewood Assisted Living took place (now Westerwood Assisted Living).

1998-2008 | Westerwood

Resident leaders became very involved in community decisions, including the design and development of Friendship Woods.

2008-2020 | Westerwood

2008-2020

Multimillion-dollar renovations were made to our community, including our first-floor assisted living wing, exterior painting, and an interior refresh.
The elegant monthly first-Sunday brunch begins.
Pets welcomed to our community.

2021-Present

Friendship Village Columbus changes its name to Westerwood to better appeal to today’s modern elder.
Westerwood undergoes renovations to create new Garden Cottage homes and a host of new lifestyle amenities.
